rubi santo domingo is now a myx dj

From being a second big placer in the last season of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition, Robi Domingo now becomes one of the winners in the recently concluded talent-search show MYX VJ Search. The other three are Chino Liu Pio (younger brother of Hale vocalist, Champ), Bianca Roque, and Monica Yncierto.

Robi jumped for joy when MYX Channel head André Allan Alvarez announced his name as one of the four new video jocks of the said music channel last night, October 21, at the Activity Center of TriNoma Mall in Quezon City.

The 18-year-old Ateneo student said that it has always been his dream to be a host in a show. This is also the reason why he joined another reality show after Pinoy Big Brother.

"Hosting kasi is what I want. 'Yon talaga ang sinabi ko, ‘This is what I want,'" said Robi in an interview after the announcement of winners.

The newest MYX VJ said that winning in this competition is more than what he felt after his stint in PBB. When asked about his feeling when his named was announced, he said: "[I'm] very overwhelmed, ang sarap talaga! Hindi ko ma-explain kasi halo-halo. Ano, parang more than PBB siya, e. Alam mo 'yon, kasi that's what you want talaga. Kasi, hosting has been my passion ever since."

"It's totally a different thing," he answered. "Ang sa PBB lang, outside ABS-CBN, outside the network—endorsements and mall shows sa kanila. Inside the talent center, show within ABS-CBN."

The PBB Teen Plus second placer also clarified that he did not feel any vindication for winning the MYX VJ Search. "Well, about the second placer, I think dapat kalimutan na natin ang issue na 'yan, kasi we're all winners sa PBB naman. Here, it's a different thing."

Although Robi was not PBB Teen Edition grand winner, Mr. Alvarez thinks that the exposure he got inside Bahay ni Kuya still helped Robi to become one of the four new faces of MYX music channel.

Robi, obviously, is a perfect fit for our market na 13 to 19 years old, screaming girls like this [pointing to the fans waiting for Robi]. I'm sure it helped. When you bring him to the events na hindi naman necessarily you would think na Channel 2 viewers ang mga nanonood, people still responded to him very well. I think that was the very, very big thing na, you know, he didn't have to work hard for that anymore."
