Derek Ramsay admitted in an interview with The Buzz that he and girlfriend Angelica Panganiban indeed had some time off from their relationship due to a misunderstanding, which they have already resolved. Also, he denied that the cause of the cool-off was because of a third party or jealousy. “Hindi siya selosa, iyakin si Angel, hindi siya selosa,” explained Derek. He added that he and Angelica are now very much okay.
The Fil-Brit actor also explained the pictures being spread on the internet of him with different women. Derek said the girls in the pictures were just fans and that those were taken in Cebu during the Sinulog Festival. The female fans requested him to appear like they were kissing them. “You know sometimes fans ask you like, ‘Pwede pa-picture na parang hinahalikan mo ‘ko?’ Me, I’ll do it ‘coz it’s harmless and again, we’re making damay some persons.”
Regarding the issue that the actor was seen fetching a member of an all-female dance group from the rival network named Saida, Derek explained, “Probably I was seen out with her and assumptions…people assume and this is where it came from and again my apologies out to Angel that you have to get this and again my apologies goes out to Saida that your name is involved.” He also denied giving the dancer a diamond ring. But among the controversies being hurled at Derek it is the issue that he is reconnecting with former girlfriend and model Solen Eussaf that he finds the funniest. Derek said that he has not seen his former girlfriend in a very long time.
He also requested that his parents be spared from the issue after a rumor claiming that they supposedly do not like Angelica for him. “Hindi makikipagplastikan ang mga magulang ko sa hindi nila gusto,” the actor pointed out. “If that’s the case, just leave my family out of it because my family, they’re really honest, good people that don’t need to get involved in any of this.”
